Carrot Market

Annually, on the first Wednesday of November, the traditional carrot market is held in the old town of Aarau, primarily along the Graben street. Over the years, the market has transformed into a significant cultural and economic highlight.

From 8 in the morning, Aarau becomes the preeminent carrot hub of Switzerland, at least for one day, with the market serving as a defining feature of the town, much like the onion market is to Bern. Nearly 140 vendors participate in the carrot market each year, a testament to its immense popularity among local and distant sellers.
