Swiss National Day on the Rhine

Basel marks the Swiss National Day on July 31 with a grand display of fireworks on the Rhine River.

From 5 p.m. until 2 a.m., the festival area, spanning from Johanniterbrücke to Wettsteinbrücke in Kleinbasel and from Johanniterbrücke to Mittlere Brücke and Marktplatz in Grossbasel, boasts of approximately 100 stalls that contribute to the festive ambiance. The fireworks show is launched from two boats, and the ideal viewing spot is the Kleinbasel bank of the Rhine between Johanniterbrücke and Wettsteinbrücke.
